In terms of performance, I see a lot of cheap ones on amazon for PC. Then I see the expensive mayflash that says it specifcally built for dolphin. I would assume it would be easier and quicker to hook up and play but I like to save money and buy something that does the exact same thing.

Is there sensor bars out there that works just as good and cheaper? Do candles really work just as good?

What's special about the Mayflash DolphinBar is that it has a built-in Bluetooth adapter for connecting your Wii Remotes to your PC. If you don't need that, you should buy one of the cheaper sensor bars instead of the DolphinBar. (If you do want to connect using the DolphinBar, keep in mind that it doesn't support Dolphin's new Bluetooth Passthrough feature.)

I'm really happy with the Dolphinbar. Works as described. I don't remember it being expensive. I think I bought it for $20 new?

It's a lot of money compared to $0, which is how much the candles you probably have sitting in a cabinet cost.

Perhaps candles are not the safest of ideas? At least the DolphinBar is incapable of burning down your house.

I bet if you fed it enough power and had something flammable touching it, it would be capable of burning your house. Of course you'd probably need your own generator for that since that much power would probably just trip your breaker. But as long as you aren't an idiot, 5 years old, or both, it would also be pretty hard to accidentally burn your house down with candles.

BTW, remember that the sensor bar doesn't actually have any sensors in it- the sensors are in the wii remote! The sensor bar only houses IR LED lights that the Wii Remote sees.
