Yes, I have used savestates to save games but I seldom load from savestates.
But saved games in 2291 should be OK since I copied to 2343 and they were working in 2343.
And I never used 2291 after that.
In fact, both were working before I tried out 4.0.
2291, 2343 and 4.0 are in different folders, don't see why 4.0 portable will affect the other 2?
