Hey guys, I know this would be better asked as two questions separately to the program devs and a computer techy site, but here it goes...

I'm looking build a computer that will run dolphin at 720p-1080p, preferably with anti-aliasing, on wii games with close to, if not, 60fps. All of this being done with little to no sacrifice of quality in other things, (bad audio, disabling certain effects..).

I read your faqs and it says to have at least a certain i5 quad core (even though dolphin supposedly doesn't use 4 cores) cpu and at least a GeForce GTX 460, I think, to run games in HD (presumably meaning internal resolution, not anti-aliasing).

Could you tell me exactly what specs in GPU (memory bandwith, cycles, FLOPS, etc.) and CPU I would need/should look for to build this computer of mine?

(So, basically answer the faqs of what cpu & gpu to use in more specific computer nerd terms and in relation to how I want to run it Big Grin )

Dolphin commonly utilizes 2 cores, 3 at maximum with certain settings. If you want specs to run 1080p, you have to be a bit more specific. What games do you want to play? What do you want running in the background? Are you adamant on having absolutely no speed hacks and/or sacrificing detail oriented things?

What's your budget? Here's a build I have http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Nrmgator/saved/njx2FT that costs $768 before rebate, $738 after.
A newer Maxwell card will be more powerful while using less energy. You can swap in a 960 if you want more power for like an extra $30 dollars (this one: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn960wf2oc2gd)

I guess a few things might be able to be disabled I guess... Just as long as it doesn't effect the game too much...

Super Mario Galaxy 2, and some Metroid games looked good, so no limiting to 2D with little effects involved, Skyward Sword (yes, IK its a 30fps game) and twilight princess wii. Those are just a couple of things off the top of my head.

I'm just looking for in-detail specs. I don't actually have the money to buy a new pc right now.

Kind of hypothetical...

Thx for the link though Smile

Edit: I Think that's the i5 cpu the faq said. I noticed it is the "K" model. Does that need to be overclocked or no? I don't know much about how overclocking is done, just what the result of doing it is.

It doesn't need  to be OC'd but it can be if needed. As I understand it (in the most basic terms) the higher you OC it, the faster it can get things done at the expense of more power drawn and more heat produced; if voltage is messed with, lifespan of the CPU can possibly be shortened

CPU overclocking is pretty safe with current gen CPUs.

But the parts I listed are some of the most well rounded for Dolphin gaming and PC gaming

KHg's build is an excellent Dolphin rig. However, the games you want to play happen to be the most demanding games out there, so settling for less is not an option
