Im trying to perfect my shader for tales of symphonia. I had to go a little skimpy on the SSAO this time around. I like what it does to the environment, but it blobs around the characters, which im not fond of. :/
What do you guys think?

What exactly are you trying to "improve"? Why even change it at all? To me the original looks way better.

Well, in the case of TOS, I want to make everything less washed out looking. The vanilla colors are so bland. I like modern day lighting and color, so I aim to mimic the style to the best of my abilities. ^.^ An image from the upcoming pc port of Tales of Zestiria for reference. Vivid greens, dark shadows, *shivers. Love it.
I don't think the vivid colors are doing it any justice since it makes the blur more noticeable.

It's actually an effect they put into the game for some weird reason AFAIK

Hopefully the steam port doesn't have it. Anyway, I dropped Tos for a while. I went back to tp and Fragile Dreams. 08-16-2015, 03:37 PM
looks dope, the original looks kinda greyed out in comparison
if you could fix the shadow around the character to be more subtle that'll be great |
