I just have "dolphin 2.0" currently, and i have no clue what im supposed to do, or if im required to go download some program(s) to get the "start recording" and "play recording" options to be un-greyed in the drop down menu. I've looked at many of these FAQ guides very thoroughly, and not found 1 single Q&A about how to get those 2 options to be avaiable. They're always greyed out for me.

I wanted to try recording a video or two, to watch myself of test projects i do with megaman 9, and 10. I hear that fraps program only requires extremely powerful computers, so that would NOT be the option for me. I do not need 720p+..hi-def or anything crazy high like that. Just regular standard quality would do. I dont have a very good comp since it can only run the MM games...and everything else at no better than 10 FPS maximum.

But i still wanna know how to get those 2 options avaiable on the main dolphin window.

Sorry but fraps is your best option. And the fastest option. Recording is always going to have a performance hit no matter how you do it.

you sure ? there's nothing else avaiable ?? again just to say, i dont need high quality. the lowest would be fine with me, if it were to manage to output a video file that's at least watchable compared to the 10 FPS the emulator actually runs for me on this comp.

I dont care if the quality is like 240p ..i'll take it literally.

or is it like no matter how slow the emu is, if it goes 5 FPS, then it can only make a 5 FPS AVI/mpeg/wav/etc ?? Sad
Just want to make sure i'd understand how that'd work exactly too.

Of all the video recording software out their fraps has the lowest performance hit of any of them.

Okay well i tried fraps anyway like you said. Even though i know it's just totally obvious it aint going to help me in my situation whatsoever 1 bit. With getting only 10 FPS on the emu itself, i did try recording a movie file with fraps...this was the result:

http://www.arc-nova.org/kuja_killer/Dolphin%20test.avi - It went down a little more to like 7 or 8 on average...soooo sloooow.

Well i was playing megaman 10 again on chill man, and after 15 hours worth of savestating/reload state, just to make a test run that's pixel/savestate-perfect. i finally got it done.
http://www.arc-nova.org/kuja_killer/chill-record-129.PNG - I broke the 1:30 barrier.

And i was hoping somebody from this forum who can run dolphin with megaman 10 good enough at full speed, if they could possible record a video for me of my run ?? I'd hate to ever ask any of you guys just cause my comp is not good enough. This is just only once, not again i swear. I have a savestate here for it that goes in the "dolphin folder\User\StateSaves\" directory.

I dont know why it gives it such a weird filename like that instead of the megaman10 WAD name. Or if i need to include any of the data files generated by this game. If i do, i'll link that too. This was done on dolphin 2.0, no graphic glitches, no flickering, everything looks great except that this comp only gets 10-14 FPS maximum.
I just wanted a movie file to watch back in media player classic if anyone would be willing to hopefully.
