I'm trying to get a Wiimote setup for my emulator, but I'm a bit puzzled on what I need to purchase.
What would I need in terms of adapters, Bluetooth (and how would that connect to the Wiimote?), also very important, the IR bar (no clue what I should get for this and how I'd set it up).

I found a page that had this explained to an extent, but in my infinite wisdom, I forgot to bookmark it (and to be fair, I still had some questions about that one).

Hope someone can help me along. Cheers.

You'll need a wiimote (preferably first party), a bluetooth adapter (dolphin can connect to the wiimote in controller settings), and and IR bar (so the cursor works).

I don't know where you live so I'm going to assume US and hope I'm right.

Like ExtremeDude2 said, a BT adapter for Wiimote connectivity and an IR bar so the wiimote can track pointing.

I personally recommend this one as it should make an optional Bluetooth Passthrough feature work if you choose to use it

(Note, bluetooth passthrough is most likely required to make many third party wiimotes work correctly)

For an IR bar, anything on amazon for "Wii USB sensor bar" should work. like this

Another option is an all in one solution, the Dolphinbar, but it has it's own set of drawbacks which are due to design flaws. Specifically, that bluetooth passthrough feature will not work, and they designed the IR LEDs to run way too bright which can cause burn out issues for some.

Sadly, I live in The Netherlands, so for Amazon, I'd be looking at some relatively high shipping costs for the Sensor Bar. I've found an alternative named Cablebee USB, is either one of you familiar with this one or am I just gonna have to gamble a bit on it?

Any Bluetooth USB adapter will work though, right. This would leave the option for me to just pick one up at my local store (far cheaper and quicker than ordering from the US).

Thanks for the answers so far.

It should work fine. The IR bar is literally just pairs of dumb IR LEDs. The wiimote has an IR camera to track them.

Yeah any USB bluetooth adapter should work. It'll be random chance whether it works for bluetooth passthrough, but that's really an optional feature that you don't really need unless you absolutely need third party wiimotes to work

I'm having a little trouble getting the bluetooth adapter recognized by Dolphin. It appears the old wiimote I had is no longer functional (unfortunate battery leak destroyed the poor thing) and I might have to get a 3rd party to work, but I can't test either way. Do I need a functional Wiimote in order to test whether dolphin will even pick up the bluetooth adapter? Do I have to sink the bluetooth adapter with the wiimote first for me to have any chance of doing that?

EDIT: Figured out how to connect the darn thing, gonna have to wait for a functional wiimote to arrive, I hope I can still get a branded one, if possible, but that seems like a really difficult thing nowadays. How big are the chances of my device supporting passthrough, I got a relatively cheap USB dongle but am willing to spend more if that guarantees compatibility.

THanks in advance.
