Like I said, I locked Dolphin to the first two cores using the CPU affinity options of Windows.
Anyway, thanks for all the advice everyone! I've bought the parts and here's what's inside my new rig:
Intel Pentium G3258 w/ closed loop water cooling
Asus Z97-A
Sapphire Toxic R9 280X
Sandisk Extreme Pro 512 GB SSD
The processor seems a bit underwhelmed but heck, I don't really use this system as a daily driver (I have my i7-equipped laptops). It's just for Dolphin/light gaming/HTPC purposes.
On a side note, does anyone know how far you can stretch the MSAA for Dolphin on something like this card?
