Have they explicitly discouraged it either? Also, if the thread is locked, the worst thing it could happen is nobody helping us. Even if it does get locked, there's a chance some coders read it. Please don't discourage them to help us, since they are so good at what they do.

On multiple past instances, yes.

First, we are talking about the Kx Project here, not Hardware Heaven as a whole. Also, if they read this and read they are "trolls", "noobs" and "cocky shits", why would they help? This would just scare them away more. Why don't we become just a little humble and accept help that has huge potential?

Maybe when you understand the difference between emulating a custom and barely documented DSP and creating drivers for sound hardware that was reverse engineered via hardware engineers and opensource linux drivers, maybe then i will accept your opinion.

Of course I'm aware the techniques required to do these things are different. However, these people know how to code and they know a lot about sound. Also, you said yourself: they are hardware engineers and can reverse-engineer sound cards. So if they are willing to help, don't you think they would (maybe somewhat easily) learn about emulation techniques and reverse-engineer Dolphin / Wii? I think it is a matter of thinking out of the box, right?

They didn't reverse engineer it, much of the EMU10K register information was posted for years on fringe sites well before the KX guys came along.

Also, the DSP IS NOT A SOUND CARD

Your own words:

Again, I'm not a coder, but I do know that if something was reverse-engineered it is because it had little documentation available (and Linux developers complain a lot about this when it comes to sound cards, too). So how come the card was "well-documented"? Maybe it was because someone reverse-engineered it to begin with, and Eugene (the leader of the kxProject) was also behind the development of sound drivers for creative cards for Linux distros (mainly the ALSA layer, if memory serves me right).

Right. But it is part of a sound card, isn't it?

Thanks for proving my point.

no, the sound related registers are part of the DSP.

Your point being, precisely? As I just stated, Eugene helped reverse-engineering Creative sound cards under Linux when there was little to no documentation available. After that he wrote drivers for Windows, with documentation he probably helped to write himself. How does this prove your point, when you say the very opposite: that they were well-documented to begin with?

Unless, of course, your point is something else that I don't get. You are being quite vague here.
