Weird performance issue

Ever since Dolphin 4.0 was released I thought I was doomed, having terrible performance. I always thought my specs were good enough for most games. They are the following:

Intel Core i5 750 @ 3.00 GHz
6GB RAM
Geforce GTX 560

The games I mostly had performance problems with were Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles.

Starting the games I would get stuttery/garbled sound as well as FPS below 20, however I discovered something real strange:

Opening the Graphic Settings dialogue during gameplay would fix everything and the game would run near perfect. 60fps 90% of the time and gone was the sound problem as well.

I've been able to replicate this will the latest dev builds of the emulator. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I'm grateful I know the fix to my problem, but having to open the graphic settings dialogue everytime I start a game is a pain in the neck and defeats the purpose using shortcuts on Steam's Big Picture mode.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

It's likely because those games require the safe-texture cache, and opening the graphics configuration is causing fast-texture cache and other settings to be set. You may run into graphical issues.

Yeah, I have just jumped to the same conclusion. I just emptied the overriden options in the game ini and the performance is way better without opening the settings. I'll play the games and see if those overriden settings are necessary for me.

Thanks.

Usually safe texture cache will just fix some minor graphical errors; I definitely think you should play with settings you feel give you the best experience!
