Wave Race: Blue Storm freezing in menus

New to dolphin and using emulators in general. I'm attempting to play Wave Race: Blue Storm and I'm experiencing issues with the game freezing during menu screens. This has happened in the main menu screen, menus before and after finishing a race, entering initials for leaderboards, and leaving the game idle for a period of time.

So far, when I've gotten into playing races, those play just fine, I've experienced no issues so far with actually playing through a race. I usually get 29-30fps while in a race with some occasional dips. I have my PC hooked up via cat6 ethernet directly to my Nvidia Shield and I am using Moonlight to stream to my TV.

Running Dolphin version 5.0-12749

I've tried all the various backends (Open GL, Vulkan, DirectX 11/12) and all suffer the same freezing issues during menus. DirectX 11/12 seems to work the best, followed by Open GL

I've set the internal resolution to native, turned off Anti-Aliasing, left Anisotropic Filtering to 1x, and really I haven't messed around with changing too many of the settings.

I have verified the integrity of the ISO file and Dolphin said it was a good dump.

The only other game I've tried so far is Wind Waker and besides an occasional frame drop, it runs perfectly.

Any help on things to try, directions to go, and how better to use dolphin would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Have your tried disabling dual core. Also does it do it without streaming.

I have not tried disabling dual core, I'll give that a shot. It does still freeze when I'm playing it directly through my PC as well.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did end up disabling dual core from the game-specific settings. So far I have not encountered any game-breaking freezing issues like I was with dual core enabled. However, the game definitely has more frame-rate drops overall, and the game pauses for maybe 1-5 seconds at the beginning and end of each race, likely due to heavy dips with the FPS. But, the races themselves are playable and I've been able to make it through the championship mode without having the game freeze between races in the menu and having to start all over again.

That good the frame drop might be shader generation. In the graphic setting in the first tab in the bottom of the list there a area called shader compilation. You might what to use asynchronous ubershader and check the box for compile shader before starting. With this and since you using a nvidia card you better off using direct 11 or 12 though.
