the dx plugin is old and outdated, since all deveolpment has gone into the ogl plugin due to it being more widely supported. currently the admins are looking for devs to continue work on it, but i wouldnt expect it to work any time soon. u can get a cheap gfx card and install it yourself, its not hard. i recommend nvidia geforce, it seems to work better with dolphin.

ignore those guys, they only see a processor's clocking to judge it. Just try your CPU out once you fix your card, what matters is not the clocking but the pipelines. I don't know much of AMD processors, I haven't looked at their benchmarks, however, you should try out and see. I'm sure you'll atleast be able to play some games.

Also, try looking for some drivers for your GPU before going all out to buy a new.

he has a laptop... i have an athlon version he has a turion version (im pretty sure turion is lower than athlon) and i can barely run most games after overclocking... (auto overclock on my msi motherboard but i doubt he will have overclocking capabilities on his laptop)

I checked ATI for driver updates i've done this once before but there aren't any.

if over clocking my laptop could cause it to break I should avoid it because i just had to get the screen fixed and it wasn't what i really wanted to pay.

I wouldn't overclock your laptop... mine was shipped with an overclocking feature on it but i doubt you could overclock in the bios... I would just stay away from that because it wont make games playable on that cpu anyway stick with wii/gc it will be much more fufilling

i failed to notice it was a laptop in that case overclocking is absolutely out of the question unless u want to have a nice laptop shaped paperweight. about the gfx card, u need a whole new one, driver updates wont work. laptops arent so easy to install parts into tho. it can be done, just not as easily as a desktop. as much as i hate giving this advice because i truly like using dolphin to play games over my gamecube, i would stick to the console until u have something to run dolphin better.

okay so no overclocking. we my laptop wasn't made to be a gaming computer. which would explain it because the computer isn't outdated.

what CPU is better I was told that an intel dual processer wasn't much of an improvement.

there is a spot for taking out the CPU, i'm not to sure about the graphic card.

im guessing that if u switch over to intel u would need a whole new motherboard, ram, the whole 9. honestly the best venue for playing dolphin would be the enthusiast build listed here, plugged into a nice big flat screen hdtv. but who has the money for all that? u can try getting a newer gfx card and see what kind of fps u get but it will propably only be enough to play low end games.

If you are going to buy anything new i would get a whole new system, that laptop has no salvagable things on it i bet and a core 2 duo at 2.5ghz even is a HUGE improvement because clock by clock the c2d will blast apart that little puny cpu u have there ^^

yes I guess fixing the graphic card would be the best bet.

but what games did the first dolphin play and what were the requierments. I think that even with a new graphic card i would need an older dolphin.
