the dx plugin is old and outdated, since all deveolpment has gone into the ogl plugin due to it being more widely supported. currently the admins are looking for devs to continue work on it, but i wouldnt expect it to work any time soon. u can get a cheap gfx card and install it yourself, its not hard. i recommend nvidia geforce, it seems to work better with dolphin.

in that case overclocking is absolutely out of the question unless u want to have a nice laptop shaped paperweight. about the gfx card, u need a whole new one, driver updates wont work. laptops arent so easy to install parts into tho. it can be done, just not as easily as a desktop. as much as i hate giving this advice because i truly like using dolphin to play games over my gamecube, i would stick to the console until u have something to run dolphin better.
u can try getting a newer gfx card and see what kind of fps u get but it will propably only be enough to play low end games.
