I suppose you really can't get over the fact that the forum was run differently in the past, and that Forum Staff had different expectations set before them. Again, that sort of behavior was permissible under SS. If neither he nor neobrain said anything to Forum Staff about that sort of stuff, it was condoned. The climate has shifted. We don't edit posts unless it's an outstanding situation (e.g. thread titles with > 85 characters, forum software won't allow users to respond). We don't hijack or impersonate forum members as pranks (something neobrain did to AnyOldName3 for a short while). And we don't participate in "Dolphin-Pro-esque" threads anymore.

About MaJoR's post, I've already extensively explained my position. You can read it above again, but in summary, it did not qualify as Flaming, regardless of how you took offense. If indeed users do see you as being labeled an ass and shape their interactions with you based on that, they are still going to be held responsible if they participate in Flaming. To reiterate, not everything you find offensive automatically counts as Flaming. We look at intent, tone, and the overall level of hostility (as explained previously) to judge that.

No, what I can't get over is being punished for a half-joke because "people will listen to you and take you seriously" when there still exists an entire thread that was hijacked by an administrator based on the same joke. Meanwhile another moderator is allowed to violate the forum rules without any repercussions because even if people will listen to her and take her seriously, she didn't mean any harm.

Note how that thread was hijacked by everyone, and no one was punished. The rules were relaxed, for mods and all users (FYI I was not an admin at the time either). You can complain all you want about how this isn't fair, but the past can't be changed. If we're more strict about joke topics, enforcing rules like they were intended, that's just how we've changed. And as for MaJoR, she did not violate the policy on Flaming, despite your assertions otherwise. If you don't want to deal with any of our decisions, you don't have to be here.

You all have terrible timing - I've been camping without internet for the past few days and haven't been able to weigh in on the Neobrain is me thing. The truth of that matter is that I was probably at least as entertained as anyone else was by that incident, as the intent was fairly obviously humour and not to offend anyone. It may look a little dodgy now Dolphin has a wider user base and the forums are a less close-knit community, due to (as aforementioned) time changing, but after a few moments of surprise, like any prank conducted by a normal, well-balanced person, there were no hard feelings. I do not condone the use of this as an example of moderators being abusive, but instead as an innovative use of forum tools in order to strengthen ties between the devs and community. I'm pretty sure my posts appeared as his, too. Unless Neobrain publicly claims to have been trying to drive me away, this is my view.

As an aside, I think there are two non-devs who've had dev labels on the forum, tueidj, who knows things, and me, during my brief stint as doppleganger neobrain.

Just happened to take a look at this thread, I think moderation was slightly strict on the Issue explained on post #6. A verbal warning might have been better and you wouldn't have lost the interest of the forum member. either way, It's just my opinion. I'm neither a mod nor a dev, so It's a moot point anyway.

wrong. regular users' their opinion is just as important as a mod/dev/admin. we should only be here to look that things go smoothly. users are what should be driving this forum, their opinions are as (if not more) important then ours.

but thats how i perceive a forum and im not sure if all staff agrees

and i fully agree with you btw
