Hi people,

One of the easiest way for people to learn about how to use Dolphin is to read the guides displayed on the website: http://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/ . On a daily basis, several thousands of people actually look through these guides for information.

However, nobody in the development team has the time to update these guides, and sometimes they get obsolete. One example is the performance guide, still using old screenshots and with some obsolete descriptions: http://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/performance-guide/

If you write correct english and have some time, you can help! Just go to the wiki version of the guide you want to update (for the performance guide, http://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Performance_guide ), click the "edit" button, and improve the guide. The guides on the website are automatically updated from the wiki guides. It's as easy as that.

This is a great way to help the project even if you can't write code. Please consider it Smile

Thanks!

I'm only back because a stupid forum admin PM'd me (which sent me an email) to ask me to revert changes to the website only because he really does not want to spend 15 minutes to update the current guide. You can guess who I'm talking about.

I've been meaning to do this myself, but I've been kind of busy lately. The Dolphin Manual me and Shonumi are working on will make this irrelevant, but that has to be finished and everyone working on that is busy also. >_<

Latest please. If we're going to change this thing we might as well get it up to date.

EDIT: Ok, I'm just going to get to the heart of the matter. The problem is that the entire concept is wrong. We don't need a performance guide. The emulator has been refined so much that the fastest configuration is the DEFAULTS. The other stuff that speeds up games are hacks that require care in their handling, like Skip EFB Access and Disable EFB Copies. What we need is a real manual that goes over everything, and then a footnote in the manual that points out the specific settings for speed: Shomumi's Dolphin Manual. It's being worked on, but it's a big job, and it needs time. I'll do a quick pass on the never-was-a-good-idea performance guide as a tide over, and then ignore it to work on the proper replacement.

EDIT2: http://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Performance_Guide Updated. Hopefully that will be the final edit to the performance guide until the Manual is released.

Speaking of the manual, I apologize for not working on it recently. Work at my afternoon-nighttime job has picked up since it's no longer winter, so I'm getting longer hours (and not getting paid a whole lot more, thank you income tax...) I'll definitely carve out some time in the future to make some headway, especially since this upcoming weekend is incredibly free. Plus my arm tingles; I'm in a writing mood Wink
