Hi guys, I had used D3d12 prior to the newer builds on my laptop, a rather low spec system. I ran the only game I cared about playing, Mario Golf Toadstool Tour, well. But recently I tried a new build, and wanted to run on Vulkan. I consistently get a Dolphin has stopped responding when launching any games. I am new here, and can provide any config or set up file you need. I just want to find a work around to getting this working. The CPU is i5 6200U and GPU is Intel HD 520. Again, only Vulkan crashes, but the other api's seemed to have degraded in performance. I used to run Mario Golf TT without much lag or stutter. Now the game stutters every whole, badly, the audio cuts in and out, and the grid on the green is missing. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong Thanks for any help, and again, just let me know what I need to post from the emulator or drivers. Thank you! The dolphin build I am running now is 5.0-5308 x64.

Vulkan isn´t the best performer when talking about Intel´s drivers. You´ll have to stick with D3D. Also, now you can use Ubershaders to make the stutter go away. (It won´t make the game run at 100% speed, though). I´ll recommend you to use Hybrid mode.
You should check both the CPU and GPU temps while running Dolphin, and also make sure you´re running in High Performance mode (both on Windows and on the Intel HD Control Panel). I have a gaming desktop I built that melts dolphin... however when running on a tv so I can play with my wife, it is a tough option. I will try Ubershaders. I mulled using Steam to run the executable in 1080p and streaming it to my laptop. My desktop is an i5 4670k with a gtx 1070 and 16 gb ram. This might be a solid solution. ATM we are waiting for an apartment so I am stuck on this laptop. I am on high performance on both. D3D 12 was my best running on this laptop, but I understand that no one maintained the development. Have you ever streamed an emulator from a better pc? My other games stream fine, so I hope it would work well. I have an AC network that has high bandwidth. Thank you so much! This is a nice forum. 08-31-2017, 06:54 AM

Unfortunately, I don´t know anything about streaming (and thus I have never done that). Maybe other fellow members will help you with that. I have done streaming before from my desktop to my laptop through steam, but that was all on Ethernet cables. Haven't tried AC wireless cause I don't have it....
If you go to Intel's driver website, grab the latest iGPU drivers for your HD 630, try the D3D11 backend with Hybrid Ubershaders it the latest Dolphin dev build and see how it runs with your laptop Windows Power Management set to high performance while it's plugged into it's charger. |
