So, this has confused me for sometime now and looking around Google hasn't given me any answers. My galaxy S8 for whatever reason does not work well with vulkan. Whenever I try to launch a game with vulkan it will occasionally boot but everything is just a black jarbled mess. It's important for me to say that this is a Qualcomm s8 not an exynos so I do have the snapdragon 835 and adreno 450. Opengl works but it's just not quite the speed I'm looking for.

I've seen plenty of people enjoying full speed dolphin on their S8s but I cant even use vulkan...

I also can't open the enhancements menu,  at all. If I try to open it dolphin crashes. That may or may not be related but it's another question I can (hopefully) get an answer to.

I'm on the latest dev build and have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling dolphin but it still refuses to work.

Any ideas? Or am I out of luck? Appreciate any answers.

Delete the folder "dolphin-emu"
When you install the emulator, that folder is created.

Uninstall the app and delete the folder. must be on this route
internal storage> emulated> "dolphin-emu"

Install again the emulator.
End.

I had the same problem Smile

At this point, *all* Android GPU drivers are a the point where we can't expect them to work. If they do for you, that's great - but a different device or game may fail in some unusual manner.

While generally the adreno drivers may be considered "better" than the mali ones, that doesn't mean that the adreno ones don't have major issues with multiple games. And generally, the vulkan drivers tend to be more immature than the OpenGL|ES equivalent - so they should be considered experimental at best at this point.

I have no doubt the corresponding developers are rushing around fixing this issues as we speak - but right now that's the general situation we're on with Android devices.
