hello, on some games such as mario galaxy, xaudio2, some sounds are played so loud, it's distorted while the music is barely audible. Any ideas on how to fix this? On a side note, double dash xaudio2 fixes music and is an alternative to lle. Can anyone confirm? It appears to work for me. If it is then maybe someone would like to update the wiki? The randomly loud noises might be an issue with whatever drivers your sound device is using. Make sure it's up-to-date. Also, does DSound reproduce any of these issues or is it just XAudio2? Changing the backend might help. Lastly, if the loud sounds still persist, try the official Dolphin 3.0 rather than the 3.0-XXX experimental Git releases.

From my understanding according to the wiki, there are sound effects and music. Where one of them is super loud and the other one is super quiet. I have used a previous build which was better. I guess I should use older revision thanks

sorry for double post, if i edit, nobody will notice because it is at the end of the page. the issue seems to be hle as lle seems to be perfect and if i turn the sound all the way down, it's really quiet and still distorts. Regardless of dsound or xaudio2. Drivers are up to date. Happens on all revisions any ideas?
All sorts of glitches are known to happen with HLE audio. The solution, more often than not, is to use LLE audio since it's quite accurate for what it does, albeit more demanding on hardware. I don't think there's anything you can do about it for SMG. When using LLE audio, you might want to look into the VBeam Trick if the sound starts stuttering if your hardware can't handle it. Won't make the game run faster in terms of FPS, but it might help reduce any choppiness with LLE audio.

i'll try it. Do i have to disable idle skipping? And is vbeam always off by default or is it on for specific games by default?
I don't know of any games that have Accurate VBeam emulation turned on by default in the .ini config files, but the setting is a per-game setting. Once you set it, it'll stay that way for that specific game until you change it, which is good since Accurate VBeam emulation isn't perfect for every game.
For the VBeam Trick, you don't have to disable Idle Skipping. I leave it on and only enable Accurate VBeam emulation, and the trick works for me. Some people, only get the trick to work by disabling Idle Skipping and leaving Accurate VBeam emulation alone, while others need to disable Idle Skipping and turn on Accurate VBeam emulation. As far as I know, the reason for this isn't understood very well (nobody's testing it extensively), but you can try a combination of the following: 1) VBeam on, Idle Skipping on - Works for me 2) VBeam on, Idle Skipping off - Works for rpglord 3) VBeam off, Idle Skipping off - Works for Garteal Accurate VBeam emulation and Idle Skipping both affect audio timings, but I don't think we have a clear understanding why some combos work and some don't for others. Might depend on the game, hardware, etc. 08-13-2012, 04:13 PM
ok that sounds promising. I generally don't have issues with fps under lle. For me it's always been choppy sound. I hope it works. You wouldn't know how to fix sonic riders zero gravity music do you? It's all fine under hle but after say, a minute the music goes wierd. I'll get back to you under lle mario galaxy

If you ever get weird sounds with HLE audio, LLE is almost always the answer. The only exceptions are a few Resident Evil games, where the audio still has issues under LLE. HLE audio's not likely to be improved any time soon, so LLE should be the first thing you look at in your settings. Try it with Sonic Riders.

vbeam just doesn't seem to work. A trick i've been using for a long time is changing frame skip from 0 to 1. It definately makes a difference but it just needs that little bit of a push under extreme environments like boss battles and vbeam just doesn't do anything. The volume issue still exists under lle it just isn't distorted. Any ideas?
