So I noticed my firefox running slow when I booted my computer, and what do I find in task manager? "mrt.exe" 49% CPU, description: window tool for removal of malicious software!!
I'm like wtf, I've got a virus? So I start up my dusty old SpyBot for a full scan. But before the scan is finished, Windows solves the mystery with the message:
Please reboot your computer to finish install of the important security update.

Nice way to do it, Microsoft! Worry the crap out of me while patching your own mistakes!Angry

I've just updated my Vista x64 and don't have any mrt.exe.
I guess you have a virus or something like that.

Nah it was just working with the update, it disappeared after the message. Spybot didn't find anything either. Kinda misleading description...

In any case, with that info I would still assume it was Windows trying to fetch of a virus.

you guys should just understand the naming of that program xD

Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, it's just a program that Microsoft sends through windows updates every month to delete malicious software Tongue (it's also done on XP and 7 Tongue, and it's like saying Microsoft's own little anti-spyware >_>)
