Guys, Im using a second computer to run dolphin, but this one has intel 4400 onboard vga.

Seems to work fine, but I´d noticed that with opengl, some games goes to lower fps than on directx. On some games, difference is 10-20fps (not on the entire game, just on specific situations)

What are the general recommendatios for intel 4400 card?

Should I use directx? Difference could be driver related? There is a recommended intel driver for dolphin?

Thanks Big Grin

I don't know, in Project M community build I got much better results in D3D. I think if you're running Intel/Nvidia D3D is leagues better.

OGL is always better for Nvidia, unless the game literally does not work correctly with OGL and requires D3D.

Hi,

A note on the current state of IR in dolphin to try to avoid false information being spread.

If you're running at 1080p, try not to set the IR higher than 3x. If you want better AA, either use driver AA or Dolphin's SSAA. The reason for this is as of this time, Dolphin does NOT properly downsample IRs higher than your native res, therefore, any IR higher than your native res does not improve image quality and just pushes your GPU needlessly for no benefit. This is a known issue and I believe somebody is working on a proper downsampling filter for Dolphin, but please. Do not set it higher than your native res. You get nothing AFAIK. This is partially why dolphin implemented those resolution hints in the IR combo box, so people know what to set it to.

Also, for nvidia GPUs, use the OpenGL backend. It performs better in most cases, which allow you to turn up the eye candy.

EDIT: I was told that in some cases, for example Wind Waker, having high IRs can help. However, if you're using things like EFB to RAM, high IRs will be even more demanding.

I don't know, on D3D I was able to go 4x native x16 AF, and 4 samples AA with 4 Ice Climbers on Delfino's Secret in PM.

Open GL wasn't able to do that.

And on my second build with intel igpu should set directx?

With directx some games like virtua striker 3 hangs with some shader cache error. With opengl last a little longer before hanging. Didnt knew intel drivers were so bad.

Dont know, maybe Im on an unstable build, but Im getting more gfx problems on 4400 than on my nvidia build.

Some weird things, mario sunshine was running at 15fps (2x ir) i3 4160. Switched to windowed, then fullscreen.. and bang.. 30fps stable.

Virtua striker is a no go, it hangs and hangs and hangs, if anyone can try it with intel igpu will be great.
