GTX250 is the better deal of the two you listed. I'd go for a Radeon 4870 myself, but if you're hellbent on getting a 1GB card for 129 or less and an Nvidia one, 250 is the best bet.

As far as i know, GTS 250 is a 9800gtx+, the choice is quite obvious.
GTS 250 has 55nm transistors against the 65nm from 9600GT, so, you have less power consumption.

The performance of a graphics card is NOT measured by it's memory.
The 4870 whips the GTX250's ass.
Here's some proof
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-2009/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-Totals,1196.html

The 4870 scores 15% better overall than the GTX250 so for an extra measly $5, it's a much better purchase.

Realistically, the difference in memory won't matter unless you plan to play games at 2560*1600, in which case you'll want to have a card with 1GB memory. However, for purposes of Dolphin anyways, 512MB of memory should be fine.

One thing though, until Issue 852(http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=852) gets solved, I'd stay away from ATI card for a bit.

So I guess you should go ahead and get the GTS 250 or a GTX 260 if you can.

Hey hey now, he might not have known, or he might have actually wanted to play some game at 2560*1600 (doubt it). But it's no reason to go face-palming yourself. Tongue ... We all learn new things everyday.
