I have asked in another thread about how a video card affects performance yet am still pretty stumped about it. I have a geforce 8800m gts and a T9300 2.5ghz cpu.
For the most part I have no issues running my res at 1400x900 but in some key areas of games (for example a few stages in smash bros with 4 players and the intro to wind waker as well as the forsaken fortress) run better in native resolution. sometimes its a difference of ~2 fps and sometimes its as much as 30 (when the frame limiter is turned off in smash bros I can get 80fps in some stages in native)
Does anyone have any tips for me to run games at 1400x900 without having the frame rate dips cause by the gpu? Im not referring to drops caused by the cpu, those are evident by task manager reporting the cpu to be at 95-100%. Im talking about getting 45 out of 50 fps and my cpu utilization being only 70%.
Any help from the devs?
