Ok, the Dolphin program is literally awesome, unfortunatly, I don't have the power to run things on my computer *sad face*.

But, due to the increasing numbers of emulators reach the Wii's homebrew, I was wondering if you guys will take the time and make the Gamecube section of Dolphin a homebrew application.

I just wanted to ask if this is ever gonna happen, has it been considered, and/or am I an idiot and it's already beign worked on? XD

Please do fill me in!

why would you need a gamecube emulator on a system that is essentially a jacked up gamecube and is 100% compatible that makes no sense

Why would you use an emulator and not just get the game system?

Same thing. -_-

Sorta the same reason there is a n64 emulator for homebrew when you have perfectly compatible VCs.

I want to play roms instead of buying games I've already owned and beat before. The same thing you are doing on your computer with Dolphin. Only even better, I get to play on my TV and use my gamecube controller.

Does anyone know if they have any interest for the Wii compatibility at all?

Do you mean a port of dolphin to the wii ? that would be stupid in so many aspects

The only idea of ppc -> x86 -> ppc again would be stupid ( unless is for debugging purposes )

Ok first of all VC games are not 100% compatible when compared to the game on the actual sytem a perfect example is mario kart you can't save ghost data in the VC version unlike the N64 version and what i was questioning was the point in a system essentially emulating itself or part of itself when it does that normally and much better than the actual emulator.

Just because of convenience, I don't have the time or money to get ahold of old gc games. And even better again, you get the emulation on your television with ur gc controller.

So basically, your taking your problem, with your computer (you dont have a gc/cant afford it) and just using it on your Wii, I understand its not perfect quality, but I also understand quality will be improved over time.

Even that it'll be useful for a Wii that cannot read discs, your lasers broken.

All in all, I'm just wondering if they've considered it

If your lense is broken then that really sucks cause there really isn't any other way of playing gcn games on the wii apart from the normal way but you can always hook up your tv to your computer and play it that way not quite the same but it might be your only option for gcn games apart from getting the lens fixed any reason apart from the obvious homebrew one why you don't want to send your wii to Nintendo

Checkout my latest project ( it is a program that downloads and compiles dolphin on mac and linux now): http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu-downloader (It's unofficial and maintained by me, not the dolphin dev team)

True , but I think you don't understand the real reason

I don't think is the same thing, most of the people use dolphin to play but others use it to develop the emulator itself and other stuff

I don't think so

The fact of having the lasers broken have nothing to do with dolphin , Dolphin creates an environment to let games to run , in the lasers case you need an alternate way to launch games

shawnanastasio the GC backup launcher is useless if the laser is broken because what's going to read the disc then

dapimpmasta what exactly are you're computer specs cause they can't be much worse than mine and i run a lot of games at full speed or near it and these games are the pretty graphics intensive ones like the metroid prime games and some other ones
