So I have a bit of a weird issue with Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (Which is listed at four stars on the current compatibility list, I think), and several other games. I am running a SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful computer than I was the last time I used Dolphin. Since I don't know if the specs I entered at Signup list here, I'll list them in my post. But first, the specs I remember from my old computer.

AMD 4500 HD GPU

AMD Athlon x2 2.8 ghz

5 gigs ram.

Now, I am running...

Nvidia 9600 gt (I don't know if this is an improvement over the last graphics card, it is a quick replacement for a vastly better card that went kaput)

AMD Phenom 2 X4 clocked at 3.2 ghz, 3.5 in the winter.

8 gigs ram.

My problem is, the game ran at about 80-95% speed on my last computer (As did most games), and I can't seem to break 60-70% speed on any games, specifically this one, with my new computer. I have downloaded the latest version of the emulator and am giving it a try, and I will report back with results, but I wanted to know if anyone could help me before I got too caught up in trying to fix it myself.

Your new CPU is indeed faster, but not fast enough. Set you Internal Resolution to 1x and disable AA. If you still get slowdowns doing these steps, you have a CPU bottleneck. In this case, either consider overclocking (do research first) or a hardware upgrade. Dolphin has some fairly high CPU demands in certain games; there's no getting around it.

I'll consider overclocking again, though I do find it slightly funny one of the few games I can emulate on this is Xenoblade, at 100% speed with a few graphics enhancements.

I'm not doubting you, just lamenting the situation. I'll try an overclock again, since it's starting to cool down, and then I'll get back to you.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a completely different game than MGS:TTS, with completely different hardware demands. XBC really isn't that demanding of a game on the CPU (it is GPU intensive however). MGS:TTS is more demanding in the CPU than a number of games if I recall correctly. I'm not sure, but I think this game needs EFB copies set to RAM, and the GameINIs automatically set this for you (overriding your default settings). That would make MGS:TTS slower as well.

After re-applying my usual overclock, and upgrading to the latest version, all the games I was having speed issues with are resolved. Thank you for the help.
