Exclamation
Hey there Dolphin community,

This is my current PC build

OS: Windows 10 - 64 bit
MOBO: ASRock 970 Extreme4
GPU: GTX 1070
CPU: AMD FX-8350
SSD: OCZ Vector 150 + HDD for media files
RAM: 12 GB DDR3 G.Skill Ripjaw
Monitor: GSYNC Dell S2417DG

I have been playing Super Smash Brothers Melee with Dolphin for a few weeks and was running the game at 60 FPS no problem, with a bunch of other applications running as well. Then I swapped out my GPU and CPU and now melee plays very unstable, with 25 fps max. I am using Dolphin 5.0-321

The components I had in previously were:

GPU: Radeon HD 5770
CPU: AMD Phenom II BLACK X4 945

I didn't change anything in the settings after installing my new components but I have been tinkering with settings in order to correct the issues, including:

Trying DX12 (using DX11 normally)
Trying CPU overclock on/off
Enabling and disabling multi-core use
Changing "speed" setting to 100% and "No Limit"
Setting resolution to Auto vs fixing it at 1080

None of these made any differences and I'm stuck. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Pictures of my settings

Try going to the NVidia control panel > Manage 3D Settings & setting the Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance. Also, of course, make sure you have the latest video drivers from the NVidia website
Windows 11 Home x64
Intel Core i7-10700
Nvidia Rtx 2060 6GB
32.0 GB DDR4 RAM

Seriously, you bought an amd cpu *NOW* ???

Well according to benchmarks, your new cpu should be 30 to 50% faster, so i guess something is actually wrong. The settings look fine, except maybe disabling fog. Unless you want to do that, in order to disable some effect, don't.

You switched from amd to nvidia gpu, so 1st, you should cleanly deinstall whatever remains there could be from the amd driver. And then either use Opengl or Vulkan instead of directx, this should improve the situation a bit.

If the the game actually runs at 25 fps max, it might be some weird power saving setting from nvidia, limiting you to 25 fps. Or maybe some sync setting in your nvidia settings is interfering.

You can test if it's a Dolphin settings issue by creating a portable.txt file and putting it next to the Dolphin.exe.

I'm not sure if just swapping out the cpu is recommended. I heard a rumor that Windows might not properly install some cpu driver, so some supported feature may be unused. Could total bull of couse.
