When comparing how Twilight Princess (NGC) looks in both OpenGL and D3D, OpenGL looks better (and there are no issues with the mini-map).

The issue I am having is an inconsistency with the OpenGL performance on my system with most games in Dolphin. Sometimes I will load the game and it will be a slideshow but gradually become playable; other times it will be smooth as butter from the get-go.

D3D performance is always consistent and I have never had issues; the mini-map in TP just doesn't display 100% properly (missing some color borders) and it drives me mad.

Anyone expereincing the same issue?

PC Specs:
Core 2 Dup E6850 @ 3GHz
4GB DDR2 800MHz
640MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS

try setting threaded optimisations to off in the nvcp.

I'm guessing you're using efb to ram with opengl and efb to texture with d3d9. efb to ram will fix the minimap in exchange for causing performance loss.

Squall, I followed your advice (threaded optimisations to off in the NVIDIA CP) and using OpenGL has been incredibly smooth.

I've tried multiple NGC and Wii titles.

Thanks a million!

I will keep you all updated should the issue return...

what drivers are you using? there was some issue in Release 260 to 263 drivers that caused the auto setting to glitch opengl apps, either crashing them or slowing them down.

setting it to on or off should work fine either way.

interesting, though you did say you have a core 2 E series, and alot of the users have noticed strange threading issues in the latest drivers.

I need to keep the setting set to "off"; both the "auto" and "on" settings cause the lag/stuttering issue.

ok, then its similar to the issue some people would get with Petes OpenGL2 plugin (for PSEMUpro)
