Hi,

I was wondering if the functionality exists, or could exist, to be able to use an official Gamecube controller connected via the official Wii U controller adapter but as a Wiimote with a Classic Controller Pro .

I have used the controllers with no issues with all my Gamecube games, configured as "Standard controller" in the Gamecube section of the Controllers settings. They also work perfectly with the Wii games that I've tested that are compatible out of the box with Gamecube controllers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wi...controller).

I'm sure someone already thought of this before I did, but wouldn't it be great to use the GC controllers as Classic controllers to be able to play all the Wii games that support them? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ga...Controller)

I was expecting to be able to set the Wiimote to "Emulated Wiimote", and then map the buttons of my GC controller. To my sad surprise I realized it only detects Keyboard/Mouse and other more "standard" gamepads (Xbone, PS4, etc), but not my GC controllers via the official Wii U adapter.

If this is possible, what am I doing wrong?

If not, is it something that is being worked on for a future release?

If it's not being worked on, how should I request this functionality to be implemented and what could I do to help? I have no coding experience, but I've had so much fun with this app already that I would be happy to donate some money to the team if it helps. BTW, I can't find a way to do so.

Best,

D

It can be done if you use the GC controllers as a PC controller.

Do you mean switching the selector on the back of a Mayflash adapter?

My question was regarding the official Nintendo GameCube controller Adapter for Wii U, which does not have that feature.

Could you elaborate on what you meant exactly?

There are drivers that let you use the wii u adapter as a normal controller for your PC.

Have you had any experience with any specific one? Could you point me towards it?

Make sure you disable it when you are playing GC games in dolphin, other wise it won't work right. Also if you already have your adapter set up and working in dolphin you can skip the part where it installs the USB drivers as they are the same as the ones dolphin uses already:

I appreciate the help but, after reading a bit, I learned that it is not yet compatible with Windows 10, which is a deal-breaker for me. Also, I realize now that I'm going to miss some buttons (ZL, -, HOME).

I guess after all the fuss I will end up buying an actual Classic Controller Pro and keep adding Nintendo controllers to my collection. Maybe in a few years I'll have enough for a museum! Tongue

Thanks again for your help ExtremeDude2!

It says it MAY be supported after 3.1, but it doesn't give me much confidence that the creator is on 3.2 already hasn't updated to Windows 10, so he's not doing any testing apparently.

Also, as I said, missing buttons limits my game choices and forces me to do research compatibility. Yes, I'm lazy Smile

Better still, I think I'll go for a HORI pad since it will also be compatible with Mario Kart 8. I can't believe the official adapter does not work on the official console for anything other than Smash yet, but I digress.

Thanks again and good luck!
