That shouldn't matter... Playing MELEE with a Wii mote and classic controller is impossible, the game won't know what's going on since it doesn't know what a Wii is... Only a Gamecube controller works in this game. If you are able to connect your Wiimote to your computer somehow (like say, bluetooth) and find a driver that allows you to configure buttons on your classic controller connected in the Wiimote to the Gamecube contoller, then you should be able to use it though.
