Using decoded texture to limit CPU load ?

Hi,

Since I don't have a very good PC (nor money to change), I would like to know if it's possible to extract decoded texture on the hard disk and then load texture in RAM/VRAM before launch. If textures are pre-decoded, performance should be better if there is enough RAM and it would decrease CPU load. Is it possible ?

Thanks

It wouldn't make much difference, even if it was possible.

You'll not notice any speed difference, but it would be possible to use 'dump textures' to dump all of a game's textures, and then 'load custom textures' to load them up again instead of the games. As said, though, it will make zero difference to speed.

So, why OpenMP Texture Decoder can make a difference on 3 cores CPU if texture decoding don't use CPU a lot ? If we decode all texture before why we aren't getting any speed improvements ?

Decode to what? It's more similar to say; my friend is a 3D artist and he use the Blender to create 3D models. So if I install this application on my machine I will be able to create and render 3D models as well.
More work has done to every frame you see than what texture decode does. The both CPU and GPU must work together at time.
And yes, if you have processor with two or more cores you'll gain a great speed up using OpenMP.

OpenMP texture decoder has barely any effect on emulation speed. It can help reduce micro-stuttering, but won't do anything major. Texture decoding is a very, very small part of the work dolphin does, so it would be far more sensible to just look for the 'Settings for best speed' thread, and follow that. If you still don't get the speed you want, then you're looking at upgrading your computer.

Also, disregard the post above this. The text there ranges from nonsensical, to non-applicable, to just blatantly wrong.
