Hi

I can get a Wiimote working with Wii games, but can't figure out how to get it working with my GC games. Is this possible?

I am using a Mac, if this makes any difference...

Cheers,
Sam

You cannot do it so easily. I'll summon Pauldachz to explain the mystical workings of how to do menial stuff on Mac.

Actually, no, you CAN do it pretty easily. It just requires a third-party app.
-Get and run this: https://code.google.com/p/wjoy/
-When it opens, press (or hold) 1+2 on the remote (or press the red Sync button). (If you miss the 15-or-so-second window it gives you when you open it or you opened it with Bluetooth off, click it in the menubar and click "Begin Discovery".)
-Open the GCPad settings, select the "Wiimote (bl-ah-bl-ah-bl-ah)" in Devices, and configure the buttons like you would any other joystick (e.g. click button in GCPad pane, press button on remote, repeat until done).

Note that that (bl-ah-bl-ah-bl-ah) thing is different for each Wii Remote, so you'll have to switch the Device if you're gonna switch Wii Remotes. Configured buttons are fine, though.

Also, this app supports all extensions (Nunchuk, Classic Controller, etc.) and also supports the Wii U Pro Controller (if you're setting one of these up, tell me, 'cause it's difficult).

Thanks Pauldacheez

I've been able to get the Wiimote running, and without the additional third-party app (Dolphin 4 seems to support it 'natively'), but when I try use it in a GC game it doesn't work. Configuring it in the GC Controller settings doesn't work either ("Input/0/Nintendo RVL-CNT-01" shows up, but it won't let me change any of the buttons; clicking the button I want to change doesn't give me an opportunity to press the button I want to use instead).

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Edit: I can use the Wiimote in Wii games without any issues.

Again, you'll have to use WJoy. Dolphin can connect to Wii Remotes fine, yeah, but it won't let you use it for GameCube games (there's no technical reason for this other than that nobody's implemented it yet). I didn't write that wall of text for no reason.

You'd need someway to make the Wiimote look like a regular controller, then in Dolphin's GC Controller input configuration screen, select the device that corresponds to the Wiimote. Perhaps try something like HID Wiimote, or any of the other solutions you get by googling "windows wiimote".

In the future, please do not necropost. Any thread in the Support, General Discussion, or Controllers Forum older than 6 months means you should probably make a new thread for your question. If you need further assistance with Wiimotes for GC games, please start a new topic.
