Is this even possible?

I would like to be able to use my Wiimote outside of Dolphin on Windows, for example as a lightgun in other emulators, to control XBMC, etc.

Dolphin doesn't require any additional software to use the Wiimote, but all those other applications do. Glovepie seems to be the most frequently mentioned.

My question is: Will they interfere with each other? Does anybody else have similar set up?

I'd love to get this working, but if I'm wasting my time, please let me know!

Glovepie and Dolphin's Real Wiimote system will not work at the same time. But it's a simple enough matter to turn one off to use the other. Or you can juse use glovepie and an emulate wiimote.

There isn't much point to it though. Sure it's neat the first time, but unless you are trying to use a livingroom couch setup on your PC than it isn't that convenient and gets old fast. Plus it favors fast and easy movements over accurate ones, so it takes some serious adjustments before it's as accurate as a real mouse. I'd suggest a trackball or trackpad setup for the livingroom setup.

That's as I thought unfortunately. I don't want to emulate a wiimote if I have a real one anyway.

The main point would be to use it as a lightgun in other emulators so I can play some duck hunt or whatever. I'd lose that with a trackball. I take your point about accuracy though, even if I could get it to work it might not even be worth it. Also I've heard that GlovePie is really a nightmare to set up and not very reliable. Are there any alternatives? I did see one called Wiinmote, but the latest version I could find was from 2007.

Actually with the Toshiba stack, Glovepie is actually quite nice. The main problem with glovepie is it's unreliability, it will randomly not want to connect, or randomly drop you while you're in the middle of a game, on and on. With the Toshiba stack taking up connectivity duties away from it, Glovepie is almost a good problem. Still a pain to set up the first time. Once you get the hang of it, and with the Toshiba stack, it's very usable. Of course this requires a toshiba-compatible dongle though... $15 I guess isn't so bad.

I'm amazed how much better the Toshiba stack is at weird crap like this. Glovepie works, random Dolphin bugs are gone, on and on. The MS bluetooth stack really does suck.

$15 is quite a lot when I already have a bluetooth dongle and no guarantees that a new one would even work! Smile Just for shits and giggles I might try setting it up with what I've got already. I've had no issues with the Microsoft bluetooth stack up until now.

Is GlovePIE an application than runs in the background, or does it work like a driver? Meaning, if I close GlovePIE will my Wiimote behave as it does now? Sorry to ask these questions, but I don't want to install it and have it break anything!

The point of buying a toshiba-compatible bluetooth dongle is because it IS guaranteed to work? What isn't guaranteed to work is the toshiba stack on any random dongle you have laying around...

Glovepie is an application, not a driver. Not that you won't need it for just pointer functionality, but if you want Axis (ala nunchuk joysticks) you'll need PPJoy (gamepad emulator driver thing) as well as glovepie.

I meant the whole setup, not just the bluetooth dongle/stack. Anyway, thanks for your time and patience with my questions. I'm going to try out GlovePie soon.
