I don't want to buy Bluetooth adapter because a reliable one costs at least $15 plus shipping.
I do have a smartphone with Bluetooth that can connect to my computer via WiFi or USB. If I can connect my Wiimote to my phone, then there should be a bridge for the Wiimote to connect to my PC.
Has anyone done something like this before?

You can use a smartphone as a wiimote:

That's interesting but I want to use the real Wiimote for Skyward Sword.

As far as I know this isn't possible in any smartphone (regardless of OS). You have two options:
1) Use DolphinMote (or iController) to use your smartphone as a wiimote
2) Buy a BT adapter.

There is no way of connecting a real Wiimote to your smartphone and then use it in Dolphin by connecting your phone with USB and if were, it probably would be extremely hacky...
