If you feel like going the painfully complex route, you could set your remote up via GlovePIE or something and have the IR control the mouse, then leave the IR options on the default mouse controls and set up the rest of the remote under Emulated Remote. There's no guarantee you'll be able to figure out how to get every part to work, though.
What part is requiring Hybrid, anyway? Does it require another add-on controller (e.g. Classic Controller) that you don't have?
what you mention may be true, i tried but cannot find a way to set real wiimote to link to IR under hybrid.
i'm playing super mario galaxy 2, i have wiimote+nunchuk+sensor bar, i also own a PS2 controller. my situation is quite funny:
1) if i set real WIIMOTE, then the game stuck after 5 second asking for nunchuk (i play zelda with this nunchuk, it works; but not anymore this case)
2) if i set emulated, with PS2 controller+mouse i can play theoritecally, however i lost a bit of excitement when it comes to IR aim, such as collecting star and yoshi tongue shot.
3) then i found out,if i set hybrid, i can use PS2 on my left hand to move around, then real wiimote on my right hand to shake and spin attack....but i cannot aim using real wiimote IR sensor.
if there is a way to map real wiimote IR into hybrid mode, then i can happily play with PS2 controller on my left hand, and real wiimote on my right hand, unfortunately so far i couldn't get this done.
