PS i just tested the range of the sensor bar, it easily handles 15ft distance (medium bright room, plus the sensor bar was almost directly placed in front of a window).
The bar contains two pairs of 3 IR LEDs and one blue power LED.

That site has sick prices for products. $20 for wiimote+ nunchuck, $4 for sensor bar, 10 dollars for dual wiimote charging station with 2800mAh battery packs etc... This stuff costs almost double in europe (in euro prices!)
Well, that's exactly how much they cost to import from eBay, from Hong Kong.

I need some help I build a Wii Sensor bar following this websites tutorial http://terbidium.com/content/projects/wiihacks/usb_sensorbar.php I probably wasted around $20 in High output infared Led's from radio shack just as this website shows same Model #. I linked 4 together and spliced a usb cable with the red and black wires and the thing wont work. I have build 2 to see if maybe an LED was dead, but neither will work. My multimeter says 5.08V is being passed through it so I know they are connected. Anyone have any idea why it wont work? Do i need some sort of resistor or capacitor or something? I also used a digital Camera to see if they are working as infared Led's are apparently invisible to the eye. Nothing shows up on the camera, on my actual Wii sensor bar i can see all the LEDS lit up when its powered.

You need to solder 30-100ohm resistors if you want to feed the IR leds a 5V current at 0,04-0,05 amperes and ensure constant performance.

Radioshack sells 27ohm ½ watt resistors regularly so you can try to ask for that too. Also the more LEDs you want to use (6, 8, 10) for your sensor bar the more current resistance it will require.

I have a Vidis Brooklyn Wii Rechargeable Wireless Sensor bar. You don't need batteries for this thing just plug into USB and it works.

I guess I'll have to check my Wii store for some of the sensor bars you mentioned. I've tried to build one with a few IR leds, batteries and resistors but probably @Schez lil' sister could do it better, so I give up on the electronic department.

Rig

*Corei5 3570K *Nvidia 9800GT 1GB DDR3
*Motherboard Asus P8H77M-PRO *Win7 x64
*RAM 8GB DDR3(1600)

If anyone is still looking for a wired USB sensor bar without having to solder or anything like that, there seems to be a legit one on eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-wii-sensor-bar-receiver-for-use-pc-play-WII-game-included-Dolphin-Emulator-/110828213010?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item19cde05312#ht_3632wt_1163

It looks like they used the original Wii bar so it should be more than adequate. I ordered one since the Nextronics Sensor bars are unavailable.

I'll report back and let everyone know if the sensor bar is any good or not.
