upgrading my HTPC

Hi

I've been trying Dolphin recently on my HTPC - i3 2100, IGP (HD3000), 4GB RAM - Gamecube games play perfectly however as expected some Wii games have bad FPS, Zelda TP & Mario Galaxy1&2.

Was thinking of upgrading to a i5 2400 and either a GT430 or HD6570, unfortunately I can only use low profile passive cards due to my small case and wanting to keep the noise down as the HTPC is in my living room.

So the question is will Zelda TP and Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 play smoothly 30+FPS with an i5 2400 + GT430 or HD6570?

Thanks

No they wont, SMG2 needs an i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz or i5 3570k @ 4.2 to run fullspeed with LLE, you can get away with the HD6570 though
......?????

Apparently the OP only wants to run the SMG games at 30+ FPS. Even with LLE, that should be doable with the i5-2400, though not necessarily enjoyable.

Ok sorry, forget 30+ FPS

Lets consider running it full speed.

Thanks

For fullspeed, you need a Core i5-3570k @ 4.2Ghz.

No way you run SMG 1/2 full speed. These games are too much demanding. You'll get good speed though.
Zelda TP should run full speed except in the most demanding parts of the game.
For LLE it's another story. If cou can't get full speed you won't be able to fully take advantage of LLE

I'm out of luck, my MB is H67, so can't overclock... damn.

Any chance the emulation will become more efficient in the near future and reduce the CPU requirements?

Probably not. Some things can be done here and there to improve performance (some recent commits are good examples), but the GC and Wii are pretty complex machines; emulating them is simply going to be a demanding task.

Nope, CPU requirements will continue to increase as the emulator reaches more to the real hardware.
EDIT: Ninja'd
