Upgrading dolphin to new version

Hello!

I was just wondering if, when downloading a new dolphin revision, I could simply unzip the file on top of my old dolphin directory and overwrite everything, or must I create another folder so files dont get mixed up?

Last time I tried to overwrite there were some issues about some directories or whatnot i can't really remember, but the program still worked. I'm just not sure if everything's as it should be.

My main concern here was to keep my settings untouched, so I don't have to run through the options every time I try a new build.

Thanks!

unzip to a new directory, copy the "user" folder from the old to the new. Can't guarantee it won't break anything.

Most times it won't break anything provided the builds are not too far in revision numbers from each other.

Just copy the GC Wii and statesaves folders in the user folder.

Usually you can just copy the entire user folder, however in rare cases your old ini files won't work perfectly, if you suspect that just delete all inis
