Upgraded to Dolphin 3.5- can't transfer GC Mem Card .RAW files? (SOLVED.)

I only just recently jumped onto the emulation scene with Dolphin
emulator-- I have no prior experience with this emulator and any of its
past revisions.

I've been using Dolphin Emu stable 3.0 version, for 3-weeks now.

Since then, I've been playing several games, mainly LoZ: Wind Waker, extensively.

I had a major issue with the picto-box in, Wind Waker, and could not manage resolve the problem. (e.g. the game always freezes for roughly (3-to-5) seconds each time I take a single snapshot.)
- The images I take show just fine, and I can delete images just fine, but the freezing is absolutely unbearable.

1) Looked at the forums, and immediately saw that a new stable edition 3.5 is available (as of 2 days ago.)
- I downloaded the emulator- extracted, and I tried to copy the (2) GC memory A (raw file(s)) assuming they would work with 3.5.
- I launched Wind-Waker, and I can see my save files at File-Select screen, unfortunately the emulator freezes when I try to load the game.

2) I tried to mimic all settings I had set from Dolphin 3.0 to to 3.5 as closely as possible.
- However i noticed some (2) new things in Dolphin 3.5 that are not available in 3.0, (to be expected with an update of course, is this perhaps why my .RAW save files won't work?)
A) I always used DirectX9 Encode, with 0.75 native (480x396) on dolphin 3.0
- Dolphin 3.5 does not have such resolution as an option anymore for DirectX9 Encode.

B) Right-Clicking and checking properties of Wind-Waker, I see a new config "Enable Bounding Box Calculation" that's enabled on Dolphin 3.5.
- No such setting on Dolphin 3.0
Are these settings the reason dolphin 3.5 freezes when I attempt to use my old files?

Is it possible to ever copy GC .RAW files into new revisions?

Is it possible to even fix Picto-Box stutter-freeze (3-5sec) on Dolphin 3.0? (That way, i won't lose my 10+ hours of game progress, and forget upgrading to 3.5 until i finish the game at least...)

Thanks for reading guys...

Re-installed Dolphin 3.5

- Used DirectX9 Encode
- 60 limit by fps
- FPS 1920x 1080 aspect 16:9
- V-SYNC
- 3x native NO AA, AF 1x
- Default: Scaled Copy EFB
- Default:EFB Texture
- Default: Accuracy FAST (slider all the way to the right.)

DSP Default
HLE

UPDATE: Zelda Wind-Waker still doesn't load my .RAW from 3.0.
- The game also runs too-fast, 200 Speed 47 FPS, super-fast-forward.

Twilight Princess can load my SAVES.
- Game runs too-fast, 200 Speed 40-55 fps. unplayable.

Soul Calibur 2 runs perfectly
- Can see my saves.
- Runs at normal 100 Speed, 60 FPS, no issues.

you shouldn't set a hard frame rate. Pal games run at 25 or 50 fps, ntsc games run at 30 or 60 fps. Set it to auto and every game should run in native speed.

I will have to try this...

I think I have tried that already... but just in-case, when i get home today, ill try that setting FPS to "auto"

Below is what I've concluded thus far:

WindWaker/ SoulCalibur 2/ Twilight Princess are all NTSC games.

Windwaker runs at 30fps, twilight 30 fps, Soul-calibur II 60fps.

For both Dolphin 3.0 & 3.5 I have set:

- DX9 Decode
- HLE Audio (Default)
- (Set FPS limit on 60FPS)

1) Soul Calibur 2 runs at 60 FPS (100 Speed) as it should, with no issues-
- Both Dolphin 3.0 and 3.5, perfect.
- My GC .RAW save-games always show and load.

2) WindWaker
- 3.5 Dolphin runs beyond 30fps, (averaging 44-49fps @ 177-189 Speed, for me this is hyper-fast.)
- 3.0 Dolphin runs perfect, steady 29-31FPS @ 100 Speed.
- My GC .RAW save-games always show, and 9-out-of-10 times, won't load, from previous 3.0 on 3.5. ( I get a Black-screen, this is probably due to sporadic FPS speed for all I know.)
*** UPDATE*** When my game managed to luckily load for 3.5 Dolphin, Pictobox still freezes for 2-5secs per-snapshot, Sad
(Looks like there's no point in even upgrading to 3.5? At least for the (2) games I enjoy. Sad )

3) Twilight Princess
- 3.5 Dolphin runs beyond 30fps, (same as above, 42-49- 177-189 speed.)
- 3.0 Dolphin runs perfect, steady 29-31FPS @ 100 Speed.
- My GC .RAW save-games always show, and load from previous 3.0 on 3.5.

I love the Dolphin Emulator and I have it to only replay my favorite Gamecube titles, windwaker/ & twilight princess... occasionally, Soul Calibur II. (I would play Metroid Prime, but I can't stand the 50-60fps lag/hiccups that occur so often throughout that game.)

Some other stuff I noticed on Dolphin 3.5.

DX11 and OPENGL don't make a difference. (DX9, DX11, & OPENGL all run the same for me.)
- I use the same graphic-settings and x3 multiplier settings. No AA, and or AF is 1x.
- Soul Calibur II is a perfect steady 60fps.
- Windwaker is 44fps+, 150+ speed.
- Twilight Princess also 44fps+ 150+ speed.

3.5 Dolphin is just funky with my fav titles... =(

I wish I could change the title of this thread, or move this thread into support...

GC Mem-Card is working if other game(s) [Twilight Princess, Luigi's mansion & Soul Calibur 2] work, turns out it was just my legend of zelda: Windwaker game crashing/ and improperly running on 3.5 Dolphin...

Well 3.5 won't fix the freeze anyway, and I noticed you said you'd forget it if that was the case so... Big Grin

LOL! Yea... this sucks Sad -- I learned a few things.

1) On 3.5 Dolphin, "AUDIO Throttle" option is gone entirely. (This option is under AUDIO-TAB on Dolphin 3.0 and checked by default. This is why my Zelda games run properly.)

2) Zelda "too-fast FPS" is resolve, somewhat for Dolphin 3.5 if i choose "set FPS-limit AUDIO". (Set fps-limit "AUTO" didn't resolve anything, same as if 60FPS, game would just run too fast.)
- With fps-limit "AUDIO" the NTSC Zelda game(s) proper under 30FPS, but they stutter a lot more often, randomly (dipping into 22-30fps), where as in 3.0, the games don't stutter at all with "set fps limit 60" and "Audio-Throttle" enabled.

Yea... I guess 3.5 just isn't for me right-now...

Wow-- Thanks a lot man, you're a life saver!

I will have to test these games when I get home.

Wait... LOL, I've already done this =(... this is what I found and mentioned in my earlier Post-- I see now what you mean.

Didn't realize this was the same thing.

Well thanks for the clarification!
