I would recommend more than a 450watt. Your specifications I would go with at least a 550-600 watt, don't forget it's not so much the watts as it is the amps so look into how much amps it gives over the 12v rail.

That's exactly why I asked him to tell us what power supply he's using. His rig will use no more than 300W during full load so a high-quality 400W is perfectly fine, like the Corsair CMPSU-400CX with its 30A on the 12V rail. Personally, I'd go with a 500W for the extra headroom in case I want to upgrade, but any more is unnecessary unless you're using more than one GPU.
Wow, man chill ... I didnt want to offend you, sorry if I did ... I actually own an ATI card too and I think they are great, I only put get the gtx295 in 2 post so, come on! it looks like you cant even joke around ...
ok now, really on topic: If you are planning to overclock, then first get a good power supply like w4ffles said, anything above 500w its good, second I dont think going over the 3.2Ghz is necesary, even at 2.8ghz many games will run full speed, maybe youll lose 10FPS in some, but remember the higher you overclock, higher gonna be your temps and power needed, well that if you are not planning to buy a new comp. if so, then buy a good one! 10-16-2009, 03:30 PM
I knew you were kidding. No one would seriously recommend a GTX 295 for Dolphin. Sorry if I offended you with the fanboy thing.

its ok, if i were serious, I maybe would say, Ohh man buy nvidia gtx295!!(link to gtx295 here+link to comparison page between nvidia gtx295 and other ati card XD) .... but right now, the new Dx11 ATIs are owning, just lets wait for nvidia to keep up ...

Thx a lot guys. Well I still have a seasonic S12 380W.
But I had a Geforce 9800GT running on it which I borrowed for video converting with CUDA. I had no issues with power supply problems, so I think the 5750/70 would also run, cause it needs less power. And btw, I don´t want to oc my phenom 2 ;-) I like it, as it is +3.3 = 20A +5 = 20A +12V1 = 17A +12V2 = 17A -12V = 0,8A +5Vsb=2.5A I am no hardcore gamer, so I don´t know if the 5750 would be enough or should I spend a few bucks more for 70? :-) I had for example with my onboard Virta Striker 2002 running with about 6fps 10-16-2009, 04:24 PM
if you dont mind that much about graphics, then buy it, but i would recomend you to buy the HD5770, so you dont have to care for a new one in a while

The 5750 is more than enough since you're not a hardcore gamer. It's definitely better than a 9800GT too, while using less power like you said. That Seasonic S12 380W is enough for a 5750 and probably a 5770 as well. Get the 5750 if you want to stay within your $130 budget. It'll be night and day compared to any onboard graphics.
