With a modified ISO with PJM I'm able to play with Dolphin 4.0. I still need to load the codes with Gecko OS, though.

I wasn't able to get a clean ISO + SD card with project M on it to work on 4.0. It just errors out and hangs after it has loaded the codes.

@ShadicX

Make sure the SD card is put into the 'wii' folder in 'my documents' under the Dolphin folder there, and not where the dolphin exe is installed. Thats for <4.0

Yep i have the SD card there and it still loads regular brawl, however using the boot.elf provided in the hackless project m i was able to load project m (though it still crashes after a while, SD crash maybe?), using the codes frompresheaf's post do nothing for me as i said before and using these codes partially loads project m.
Do i still need to instal IOS 36?

Yeah, I just tried running it with Project M 3.0 and it goes straight to regular Brawl now. I am using an older version of Dolphin though. Where should I put the hackless boot.elf?

Alright, I figured out how to run Project M 3.0 in Dolphin (this requires WinImage, but once the new sd.raw is created you use it on Mac OS X):

1. Create a new sd.raw under 2 gigs (I would say a single gigabyte, just to be safe)
2. Download BOTH the nohomebrew and homebrew versions of Project M 3.0
3. Drag the boot.elf file from the nohomebrew folder into the main directory of the homebrew folder
4. Open the sd.raw you created in WinImage
5. Click on Image and Inject Folder, select the homebrew folder
6. Save the sd.raw file and move it to the Wii folder, where Dolphin will recognize it.

I have yet to run into any crashes using this method, although there has been some lag on stages like Delfino Plaza/Skyloft when using the new characters/alt. costumes (although PMBR warned that this would happen, which is why there are yellow indicators on these characters)

the Elf/dol methods won't work in dolphin past revision 4.0-399. Just a note for those trying to play.

Ah. I am using 3.5-383. This seems to be the last revision to support Project M at mostly full speed on Mac OS X, with water graphics intact (or at least my late-2009 27 inch iMac, newer models may have better luck).

Hey, I'm suddenly having an issue launching Gecko OS at all, just getting this weird blue-gray screen and nothing else.

Anyone know what might be causing it?

I have tried completely replacing my dolphin files, both the executables and the folder in my docs. I have reinstalled ios36 twice now.

EDIT: Oh. It looks like the ios36 was changed or something. Uh. I guess I'll read back for the solution.

evilagram, to me that looks like that common GeckoOS issue, where the screen doesn't show anything. Try pressing the A button and see if that launches the game, since most of the time it's just a visual glitch. Maybe it has something to do with the backend? I'm not sure.

Well, PM 3.0 seems to be working just fine for me with Dolphin 4.0 (I should update), at least so far. I tried Mewtwo and Roy for a while and saw no issues. They, along with the new costumes (especially you, OoT Link) seem to be a bit more demanding than the original models.

It's much easier to put a GeckoOS.wad in the "Wii" directory and just launch it normally from Dolphin, since it'll appear in the game list.

Also, note that 3.0 changes the game directory around. It changes from "SD:\private\wii\app\rsbe\pf" to "SD:\projectm\pf"

Also also, if you are having trouble with the save file when using the wad, open dolphin, right click the gecko banner and click "open Wii save folder." Put your save file there and it should fix it.

I apologize for not being around recently, I'll update the first post soon, maybe around the weekend.

Any idea on what the best version of Dolphin is to run Project M?

It has to be recent enough to include comex's SD card fix (to avoid crashes with Snake and Olimar), but the performance doesn't seem as good with the latest versions I have been trying as I had beforehand.

As JMC47 mentions, the latest development builds also preclude booting into Gecko through an .elf file, giving the error evilagram mentions. What's a good way to launch Project M in that situation? The only other way I know is to directly put in the Gecko codes in Dolphin, but the code is too long to work except using comex's gecko-fix builds (as I had described in a previous post).

My preferred set-up is still to use such a gecko-fix build, available here (look for dolphin-gecko-fix-3.5-2323... make sure it's gecko-fix and not geckoos-fix).

Just make a modified ISO, then you won't have to worry about Gecko, virtual SD cards, Dolphin revisions and all that shit.

It's actually really simple. Just download and extract this, then put a NA version of Brawl in the same folder, along with the "projectm" folder from any of the Project M packs. Run the .bat and let it do its thing.
