Yep, the merge of the wii-network branch made that happen. At the moment, versions 3.5-2143 and onwards have this problem. See issue 6551.

OK, so with comex's gecko-fix build, and his recent fixes to the SD card problem, it's actually possible to have everything working perfectly, with no crashes.

The full instructions are as follows:
  1. Get a build from the gecko-fix development build of Dolphin (until the relevant changes get into master). This avoids having to load Gecko OS and thus avoids issues with IOS 36. Builds can be found here (builds starting with dolphin-gecko-fix). Extract as usual.
  2. Open Dolphin, and add the SSBB iso to the path (in "Config > Paths").
  3. Edit the configuration file for SSBB to include the Project M codes. This is achieved by editing the RSBE01.ini file (in /User/GameConfig/), which can also be accessed through Dolphin (right clicking on SSBB and clicking "Edit Config"). The codes are found in the Project M RSBE01.gct file; you can retrieve the codes using a GCT editor. In the case of Project M 2.6b, you just need to add this to the end of the RSBE01.ini file (be sure to include a newline at the end, otherwise the last line of code won't be taken into account).
  4. Add the SD file containing the Project M codes (as before, put the SD.raw file in /User/Wii/).
  5. In Dolphin, make sure "Enable cheats" is checked in "Config > General", that "Insert SD Card" is checked in "Config > Wii", and that the Project M codes are enabled (right click on SSBB, then "Gecko Codes").
  6. Launch Brawl. This should automatically start up Project M, with the PM splash screen.

I have just tried this with version "dolphin-gecko-fix-3.5-2323-x64", and everything works.

It should also be possible to use netplay to play Project M online with others. Just be sure to avoid potential desyncs by both having clean installs.

Holy shit, you serious mate? gonna try this shit ASAP, ive been waiting to play P:M online since i heard about the mod

EDIT: I must have done something wrong because everytime i try to launch the game the emulator automatically closes with no error messages (panic handlers) and i followed the steps thoroughly

EDIT2: Nevermind! problem was i was missing the last "empty" line of the Gecko code, not sure how that happened im pretty sure i copied it all... weird

Yeah, actually pastebin trimmed off the empty line at the end of what I uploaded. So make sure to have a line return after the last line of codes in RSBE01.ini.

Worked fine, even wifi works now but i have a question regarding this, when you chose to play with anyone does that mean you can play with people who dont use Project M resulting in a desync or anything like that? i was able to play with some people yesterday but it seemed like they were attacking randomly and sometimes i would get randomly disconnected

EDIT: I just played this through wifi with a buddy and we both kept getting desynched (he was playing through his Wii) is this a known issue as well because we played Brawl with the old Wii-Network branches just fine

Yes, whoever you play with needs to have the same setup, otherwise you'll desync. So if you're playing Project M, both players need to have the exact same version installed.

We both had the same version, only difference was that he was playing on his Wii and i was playing through dolphin, funny thing is Brawl works fine with no desynchs

Sorry, I think I might've had the wrong codes there. To play on Wi-Fi, you need the Wi-Fi codeset... what I linked previously was the full set. Try these for the Wi-Fi set. If that still desyncs, then I guess you should file a bug report?

Aww shit i totally forgot about the wi-fi set, i guess that was all my doing since i always download the full set, gonna try again and see if it works fine.

EDIT:Welp, at least now it doesnt desync from the beginning but it still does near halfway the match, we did a couple of 3 stock matches and we kept getting desynched near the end of our stocks and to confirm it was only with project m we decided to do a few brawl tests and everything worked fine

So i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here, i've followed every step and every time i launch brawl it launches regular brawl not project m/
Am i missing something here? must i download a different version of project m? (I've tried it with both the hackless and homebrew Full sets)
Using Dolphin 4.0 by the way.
