Don't get the Xeon as an upgrade. Dolphin only uses 2 cores, so throwing a lot of low clocked cores at it won't help much

I have Free Look disabled, and I don't even know what a "projection" hack is. I'm really confused. So I'm going to list my settings here, let me know if you see anything that may have gotten changed. It's been a while since I used it last. Thanks again! 06-29-2016, 06:49 AM

After all, my cinebench score is only like 360 (X_X) so I'm looking at a new rig. I was going to get the 8350/8370 but I changed my mind about AMD, and heard that server parts like the Xeon can be pretty impressive for pretty cheap, so unless you have a suggestion for a whole pc build that's 600$ for something more amazing (excluding GPU, I have my 970 which I can move into the new build and put my 550Ti back in this rig) I'm thinking it's the best thing for it. And if I'm coming across mean, please understand I'm genuine, if you have a better build idea PLEASE tell me. 06-29-2016, 06:59 AM

Thats 581.99 in dollars Ok, so...I'm not going to pretend to know ANYTHING about Intel chips, I just know that i7 is more desirable than i5, I don't really know which chips are better of each category (i5 and/or i7) so I see those numbers like (Core i5 6700) and my brain goes "...so...is that good?" I'm used to the AMD scheme of abcd (a=core count, b=generation, c/d=sub generation) or however it works. So, is this build really that desirable? 06-29-2016, 07:16 AM
Change Aspect Ratio in Graphics from Force 16:9 to auto.
Try turning down MSAA a bit in Graphics > Enhancements. I doubt this is the problem but it wouldn't hurt. Set Texture Cache in Graphics > Hacks to Fast. You should probably uncheck skip EFB access to CPU but that's a slow down and I'm not sure if it's related to your issue. 06-29-2016, 07:19 AM
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/buying-advice...7-3417091/ that explains the differences. And the numbers are covered on intels website http://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/en...mbers.html

As for a build:
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/TmP9WX - $570 without a case. That will be a pretty sweet gaming rig that will do a million things as well as Dolphin. Pick your own case as that's purely preference. Get rid of the SSD if you need to slim down on costs. 06-29-2016, 07:31 AM

So, I went ahead and tweaked a few things, got rid of the GPU and put my preferred brands in. Is the i5 6500 really that good, or should I go for an i7 k or something? Because here's where I'm at now ( http://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZJ8zM8 ) but if an i7 is going to blow this (and the xeon) out of the water for a little more, I'd be silly to pass on it. |
