Untriggerable trigger in luigis mansion?

Hello,

I've completed a couple of games on Dolphin and everything works flawlessly. But now I'm stuck on Luigis Mansion (in the breaker room). There is a switch on a wall that you are supposed to switch on, and I've read on google and seen tutorials that you should just press A on it.



But the switch does nothing and I'm sure I'm doing the right thing to activate it. When I stand next to the switch and press A, my character only pats the wall or shouts for Mario (which is what he would do if there was nothing there). I like this game very much and was hoping to complete it since I'm about halfway and that someone has a solution.
