The only games I have on hand right now are SMK, SMG2 and Skyward Sword; all particularly demanding but performance-wise I saw little improvement after upgrading from a 3570k @ stock and gtx670. My current specs as well as my default settings are in my sig and I should note that by default my settings are optimised for quality and compatibility. If a game has performance issues, after trying both backends, I tweak the following until I hit max fps unless the game requires it:

Skip EFB access
Ignore format changes
EFB to Texture / cached RAM
Texture cache to fast
XFB disabled
Fast depth calculation
Disable per-pixel lighting

If that's not enough I switch audio to HLE, then gradually reduce AA and as a last resort reduce IR.

For all 3 games all the above had to be applied; with SMG2 and SS @ 3xIR, and SMK @ a stomach churning (not really all that bad :p) 2.5x to avoid constant drops. This wouldn't bother me so much but this is exactly the performance per setting I remember under my old hardware. If anyone can give me an answer I'd apreciate it, thanks :)

Cached RAM raises accuracy according to what I understand from its description. And Skip EFB provocates issues in SMG 1/2 when pulling stars.

According to its description it reduces accuracy. I only change those settings when the game doesn't need them to function properly; I did not enable EFB skipping in SMG2.

Try checking your temps to make sure your CPU isn´t throttling. (Have also tried running them with 1X IR?)

No throttling. Max temp after 30 minutes was 59C. Tried playing SMK and SMG2 at my default setting with no AA and 1xIR and performance was no where near as good as I tought it would be at that setting. SMG2 ran at ~70 all the way until bowser showed up then dropped down to 30. SMK had major drops in the menus and during transitions still and played at ~30 with occational drops the entire race. With all the "speed settings", no AA and 4/3xIR performance was overall better somehow. Again the performance per setting was the same under the old hardware.

Use EFB2Texture + fast texture cache. I don't know that it causes any issues in the games, though I'll admit I don't know what game SMK is.

Yeah, EFB2Texture should work well in all of those games.

Let me make my problem more clear. To have Mario Kart play at 60fps with little to no abrupt drops in frame rate I have to use HLE audio, 2xIR, no AA and all the speedhacks:
Skip EFB access
Ignore format changes
EFB to Texture
Texture cache to fast
XFB disabled
Fast depth calculation
Disable per-pixel lighting

Anything less, say up the IR to 2.5x and I am playing sherbet land at 50 frames and all the jittery audio that comes with it. This isn't even remotely better performance per setting I was getting with a 3570k @ stock and gtx670. I am now running of far better hardware and performance seems to be lower.
