That works a lot better, but now the selection cursor for enemies is positioned incorrectly:

EDIT: Speech bubbles also have their arrows positioned incorrectly. Making 2D elements 4:3 should fix both of these if that is possible.

I found the codes that change the HUD size for the 16:9 display on NTSC and they're the following:

0456e084 bf400000
0456E098 3f400000

The only issues with these is that the projection for the game needs to be stretched and others to be unstretched.
