Okay I did find an issue with the latest build. Everytime I try to open a menu, Audio, graphics, etc, I get a stack overflow error.

Hi all, first post here! I'm a total noob so please bare with me. I downloaded the latest unstable 398 version that was just posted and have been putting it head to head with Dolphin 4.0-6928 using Metroid Prime as my test game. I'm using pretty stripped down matched settings on both, using OpenGL, fullscreen res set to auto (my desktop res is 1280x1024), aspect ratio is on stretch to window no vsync or anything else. They both seem to perform pretty much the same to me (same FPS) except that during the intro movie, the sound in Ishiiruka starts crackling quite a bit while in Dolphin there's little to no crackling. Selecting "Time Stretching" in Ishiiruka fixes the problem.
The reason I tried Ishiiruka in the first place is because a friend told me that it is supposed to run better on older hardware because it's less CPU intensive and I have an older computer that I want to play GC on. (not the one I'm using for these tests) So is this true? I'm I doing something wrong or is this true only for Wii and not GC? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The specs of the machine I'm using for testing are below. AMD FX6300 3.5GHz CPU 4 GB RAM Nvidia GTX 560 Ti Windows 7 64x The intended machine is Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz 4 GB RAM Nvidia GT 740 2GB Windows 7 64x 07-16-2015, 01:56 PM

While using the Ishiiruka version of Dolphin it is recommended for you to use DirectX instead of OpenGL. Also verify that the Async Shader option is on. 07-16-2015, 02:43 PM
Will try the suggested settings, thanks for the tips! If hardware is not an issue and I'm running a pretty beefy computer is Ishiiruka the better choice? I'm just trying to understand the advantages of using it vs Dolphin. Is it purely meant for compatibility with less powerful PC's? Really appreciate the help.

In my opinion Ishiiruka is the best choice for a high end pc as well, since there is a noticeable stuttering when compiling shaders in the master branch of Dolphin even at 100% emulation speed.

For example tonight I will put a new version with latest master changes integrated. But if you are interested in the main differences they are all in videocommon and they include that i don't support sync gpu and i did not update the fifo with the latest changes because they cause slowdowns on my machine. Ah, thanks for the info. May I ask why you don't support syncgpu? And do you have any plans to make similar changes to FIFO, if you could find out the slowdown cause? EDIT: For some reason, Ishiiruka crashes whenever I try to launch Fatal Frame 4: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (english patch). None of my other games have issues...maybe it's because FF4 is Japan region and all my others are NTSC or PAL? It works fine on normal Dolphin. |
