Use these settings:

D3D11
DSP HLE
Framelimit  = 60 (0x0000000d) , not 'auto' or 'audio'
SkipIdle enabled

Thanks, but HLE causes crackling.

Did you actually try your own settings..? Framelimit = 60 causes severe pops and crackling in audio.

Skipidle is essentially a hack, which sometimes causes an irregular framerate. I disable it in most games for smoothest performance.

I stand by my case; limit by audio is the best way to go with DKC. Shame to see it go!

I use a fully configured emulator frontend (Maximus Arcade) to play every console & arcade game instantly

Not with VSync = OFF

And Idle Skipping is used for synchronization. Turning off this feature is *not recommended*

Thanks for sharing your findings, but using your settings the game stutters and audio is unbearable (crackling all the way; with LLE and HLE es well):

[Core]
FrameLimit = 0x0000000d
GFXBackend = DX11
DSPHLE = True

[Video_Settings]
DisableFog = False
FastDepthCalc = False
MSAA = 0

[Video_Hardware]
VSync = False

I have a Nvidia GPU now, but my findings were the same using my old AMD HD7950.

Vsync off even further diminishes the smoothness of the fps on my setup. You must have turned Vsync on by default in your default GPU settings (through your Nvidia/AMD configmenu) - so that it's applied anyway (?)

But to keep this on point: the benefit of "limit by audio" is noticeable for me. Your config doesn't offer an alternative (for me) - and I've tried. Therefor I still request the return of "limit by audio" [Image: blush.gif]

Have you tried using a different audio backend? XAudio2, OpenAL, etc. Also, try reinstalling the onboard audio drivers for your specific motherboard.

... I appreciate the help, but this isn't a thread on advising me on the "correct" settings in Dolphin. I know how to configure Dolphin and my computer; I've got almost all my Wii/GC games (and 20+ other emulators) working 100% smooth, so I think my config is just fine Wink I don't have any audio problems with other games.

The point is, I notice a positive effect when using the audio limit option - which I cannot replicate using other setting (so far). That should be something worth investigating further, before removing the option completely and labeling it "useless".

For max. smoothness, try this:

Disable VSync in Dolphin, enable Borderless Fullscreen, set the framelimit to OFF, disable Aero/DWM in windows 7 and finally make a profile for Dolphin.exe in your GPU control panel and force 'VSync = Always ON' and 'High Performance Mode = ON'.

Dolphin's implementation of VSync is far from optimal (read: garbage, crap). Your GPU drivers do a much better job.

If you want even better performance and don't care about an extra frame or two of input lag, you can leave Windows Aero / DWM enabled and you don't have to force VSync in your GPU control panel. Just make sure you're using borderless FS.
