@philc: is possible to implement but will require heavy changes in the code.
@christeacher: I'm unable to duplicate the problem, have you tryed using a portable version with default settings to be shure that is a code problem?

Thank you very much for addressing my concern however I got some strange results.
Texture conversion now works! ...partially. Ishiiruka only converts a few of the textures and thus only those few are used in game. Before when I tested texture conversion with Dolphin, it did the same but what's stranger than that is Dolphin converts some textures that Ishiiruka doesn't and Ishiiruka converts some textures that Dolphin doesn't.
For reference: I have used Ishiiruka 859, Dolphin 5.0-1444, Super Mario Sunshine (USA) and this texture pack: http://bit.ly/1AoxGdH
When launching the game, Ishiiruka reports that it loads 49mb of textures (all of them) while Dolphin reports that it loads 5mb of textures (the ones it managed to convert).

Here is an example of the above:
As you can see here some textures are converted and some are not (notice the difference between the palm tree and the fish also the "Gelato Beach" and "Bianco Hills" text).

(If I recall correctly, Dolphin converted none of the textures in this image)

P.S. I have also done some Vulkan testing for you and I did not get any new issues that I didn't get in Ishiiruka 851.
I am using a GTX 970, driver version 376.19 on Windows 8.1 x64.

HI Tino

i5 750 overclocked 3.60Ghz, Nvidia 1060 6GB with last drivers 376.19

I've tried vulkan backend with "load custom textures" and dolphin crash in all games

I have tried Super Mario Galaxy 1, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda Wind Waker, Zelda Twilight Princess

When dolphin loads the textures it closes

I have played on Vulkan some more and I indeed got some hangs. I got no error messages. The game simply stopped rendering and responding to input but the audio played fine.

Dolphin.exe crashed for me on 861 shortly after launching Super Mario Sunshine (USA) with Vulkan backend.

Here is working load custom textures.

Only mario sunshine crashed, with  load custom textures activated or deactivated.
