Tested Zelda Wind Waker, and no issues found in lava area, but dont know why game.ini is forcing efb to ram since the game dont need it.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-Bits
CPU: Intel Core I5-4670 @ 3.4 Ghz GPU: SAPPHIRE AMD HD 7770 GHz Edition OC 1GB GDDR5 VAPOR-X RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 DOLPHIN: 4.0.2 x64 04-26-2014, 09:41 AM
The "lava area" has intense screen tearing without EFB to RAM. Also, if EFB to RAM is off, then some effects (things disappearing after being chopped, and a few others) will not properly be transparent.
in a perfect world we would all be piles of sand with no ability to form coherent bodies of body

That's an issue with the heat effect not being emulated at all, for whatever reason, not the heat effect being emulated correctly. The issue with the heat effect causing tearing was fixed shortly after 4.0.2 stable; it is now just distortion if EFB to RAM is enabled. But it is still a source of tearing on the stable.

The heat effect works just fine with either EFB to Texture or EFB to RAM with any recent version of Dolphin on all supported backends.
