I thought the purpose of emulation was to enhance the end user's experience, I mean, of course if you want a to give the most accurate simulation you can do it and some people prefer it however, if the hardware supports it, why not make it better?
You can enhance the users experience without totally destroying how a game was made to work. Enhancements like internal resolutions and Anti-Aliasing improve the image quality greatly, but that's taking the game for what it is and making it look better, it's not ripping out game elements.
