Unknown pointer error and frozen black screen with humming noise
Hello. I've been playing Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and although I have had some problems since this is my first time using Dolphin, I've been able to resolve all of them. That is, until today. I'm in Chapter 6 in the Excess Express during the first day's night time. Since it switches to night time right after you give Bub the Autograph, I do just that, it switched to night, I talked to the conductor who tells you to find the passenger who boarded without a ticket and took a blanket. I then proceeded to try and enter the dining hall area, when, as the area was loading, I would get this Unknown Pointer error repeatedly. If I pressed OK, it would simply appear again every time without fail. I looked up the solution to this and found that disabling panic handlers solved the issue of the error, but the game would still move much slower in this room specifically and would revert back to normal upon exiting the room. Thinking that the issue was resolved, I proceeded to go to Zip Toad's room and talk to him, expecting it to progress the story. Afterwards, I tried going back to the penguin detective, which, of course, requires that you pass through the dining hall area again. Doing so, the game started lagging again in that area, becoming slower and slower as I approached the other exit to the left. When I exited the room, during the loading screen, the game just froze on the black screen, and my computer kept making a "humming noise", confirming that Dolphin was indeed frozen. I tried changing from OpenGL to Direct3D 11, and with the exception of my game running generally faster, I saw no difference when it comes to the freezing. I wonder if the Unknown Pointer error and the frozen screen are related, or if it's just something to do with this specific room at night time. I’ve looked up the problem but nothing I found has really helped so far. Help would be much appreciated!
