I just installed the latest beta of dolphin on MacOS Catalina 10.15.6, and have not used dolphin before today on this computer (I am pretty new to dolphin overall, I used it for a bit several years ago.

I think this is likely the most direct way to illustrate what the problem is and isn't:
  1. Open Dolphin and click controllers
  2. Ensure port 1 shows "standard controller" and click configure
  3. Right click any of the buttons to pull up the "configure input" screen
  4. Ensure the device is set to Quartz/0/Keyboard & Mouse
  5. Try each input type showing in the grid
No keyboard input will register in the grid.
Mouse input types (Cursor X-, Cursor X+, Cursor Y-, Cursor Y+, left click, right click) all work correctly.

No issue exists when typing into the box at the bottom of the same screen - all keys work properly for text input.

This issue prevents me from re-mapping keys and from making it past the start menu on any games.

DUDE

I just figured it out on my MacBook Pro 2013 Catalina... Since I'm excited I finally fixed mine I'm going to give the long version... sorry lol. So mine was doing the same thing. No input even when trying to configure buttons! So I was like... Well this used to work 3yrs on the this same laptop wtf? So I downloaded v3.0 and it popped up asking to authorize "Dolphin to accept input for keyboard" so I went into my security and privacy settings in System Preferences and went to keyboard input and had to authorize dolphin to let it accept keyboard inputs.(so stupid, I know but hey I can see how this would be a useful way to hack someone) Anyway, after that I went through and there was like 4 different input options in the configuring of a standard controller and I went through and tested them one by one and the third one worked!! Good luck and I hope this helps!
