Selecting the Vulkan option on my desktop crashes Dolphin. There's no error messages and nothing in the log (I checked the one in Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Logs, but if that's the wrong one let me know). It just closes both the graphics options window and the main window.

Vulkan can be selected fine on my laptop (Intel HD 520), but copying the folder to my desktop results in a crash when I open the graphics settings. Games also crash when they're opened on Vulkan.

Here's a video of the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZcXCZgc6gI

I think it started when I installed my discrete graphics card, but I'm not 100% sure since I haven't used Dolphin in a while. I'm using Windows 10 version 1703 with Radeon Settings 17.11.1 and Intel HD Graphics 22.20.16.4771.

Download a clean fresh version of the latest dev build of Dolphin and see if that helps (the latest dev build is 5.0-5772, which is also newer than the version you were using). It could either be an old Dolphin bug, or something got messed up when copying. Either way, see if that works.

Also, don't mess with the dropdown that lets you choose what GPU to use in Dolphin, let that sit at the default otherwise things can get screwy.

Thanks, but build 5772 is the first one shown in the video, isn't it?

I downloaded a fresh copy (my archive SHA1 is 1DC26F2EFED2E433A8CF23609AC804937CA87836 if you want to verify it's not corrupt) and renamed the config folder to Dolphin Emulator.old to force it to regenerate the files. It still crashes on both DolphinWX and DolphinQt.

So it is. I was at the end of the video and looked at the last ones you were using Tongue

In the folder where you have the Dolphin.exe, create a new text file, name it "portable.txt" (without quotes), and leave the inside blank. This will run Dolphin in a local mode, not connected to the global directory on your computer to see if there might be a problem with that.

Nope, still crashes. It created a folder called "User" in the directory, which I'm assuming is because it's running in portable mode.

You could try installing https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home#sdk/d...taller.exe, it helped at a few computers I was trying to fix dolphin on.
Check my profile for up to date specs.

Wow, that actually fixed it. Thanks!

The weird thing is I've already got 1.0.33.0 and 1.0.54.0 of the runtime libraries installed. I guess there's just something missing with those ones.
